Thoughtful Thursday

A gift consists not in what is done or given,
but in the intention of the giver or doer.

- Lucius Annaeus Seneca

Love this quote VERY much. Just spoke to a customer at work today who wanted us to refund her an overdraft fee because she needs to use the money to buy flowers for the "neighborhood godmother" who passed away. She has had many fees waived in the past, so we were unable to adjust it for her.

I just have trouble understanding why anyone would spend their last dollars on a gift for someone. Yes, it's a nice gesture, but there are so many other things she could do to show her respect for a deceased loved one. And honestly, there are probably a lot more things that the family would need than some more flowers. It's the thought that counts - Not the monetary value.
